How passwords are generated

Passwords are created in your browser using the system’s cryptographic random generator. They are never sent to a server or stored: close the page and they are gone.

What makes a password strong

Mostly length and randomness. A 16-character password mixing uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols is extremely hard to brute-force. Use a different one for every account, keep them in a password manager and turn on two-factor authentication wherever you can.

Frequently asked questions

How long should my password be?

At least 12 characters for everyday accounts and 16 or more for important ones such as email and banking.

What do the bits of strength mean?

They measure how many combinations are possible. Each extra bit doubles the number of guesses needed.

How am I supposed to remember it?

You do not need to. A password manager stores it and fills it in for you.
