How the conversion works
Hourly pay = annual salary / (hours per week × weeks per year). A full-time year is usually counted as 2,080 hours (40 hours × 52 weeks), so a $60,000 salary works out to about $28.85 an hour.
Pay periods
Biweekly pay means 26 paychecks a year, while semi-monthly pay means 24. The annual total is identical, but each biweekly check is slightly smaller and two months of the year contain three paydays.
Gross vs. take-home pay
All figures are gross. Your take-home pay is lower after federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare (FICA), any state income tax, and deductions such as health insurance or 401(k) contributions.
